Chiropractic & Low Back Pain
Low back pain is probably the most common pain affecting the human race. During the life of any one of us is likely to be questioned, more than one occasion. The human body is composed of a skeleton is called the backbone, turn the spine is composed of 24 individual bones or vertebrae and between each vertebra is a disc that acts as a buffer. Without these disks wear out quickly bone fracture and the forces of everyday life such as jumping from the back of a truck. The disks are the roots of spinal nerves, which flow in from outside off the spinal cord. The spinal cord is an extension of the brain and begins at the base of the skull and continues to the tail bone " ". There are seven layers of muscles supporting the spine and help keep us upright. Now we've had this mini-lesson in anatomy, we can get an idea of how complex the musculoskeletal system. No wonder that back pain is often the case when we are so dependent on all previous systems that keep us upright and active. The spinal nerve roots are very sensitive to changes in posture and position and record pain as if squeezed or affected. While we prefer not to call a nerve pain that occurs certainly feels as if the nerve is having only done to him. In addition to the vertebrae in the lower back, which we call the lumbar vertebrae have small facet joints that also have nerve endings and are sensitive to pain. If irritation occurs, either directly from the spinal nerves that had an impact or the joints are fixed (subluxation), occurs in the lower back pain. The muscles of the column mentioned above, receive their innervation from the same nerves that exit the spinal cord between vertebrae. These muscles contract and enters into painful spasm when he commits its innervation. They do this as a reflex to protect the affected area and the result can be very painful. The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that is composed of five individual nerve cord of the lower back. The sciatic nerve passes through the buttocks (gluteus) and the region descends in both legs. There is a sciatic nerve on each side of the body. The term " " sciatica refers to the very painful condition that occurs when you affect one or more of the five nerve roots. Both pain and numbness or tingling of the nerves can occur in the buttocks, down the legs, feet and toes. Moreover, as already mentioned, the muscles receive their nerve supply of muscles nervesThose same may be weak and in some cases, atrophied. This means that a leg muscle is thinner and weaker, on the one hand, compared with the other leg muscle. Pain that has occurred with the initial point of nerve pressure in the lumbar region now has a direct effect in a remote area, like the toes and feet. As a chiropractor for twenty five years experience, I recommend to my patients with this problem that X-rays and possibly an MRI or CT scan. This will then form the basis of my orthopedic and neurological examination after an accurate diagnosis can be done. Where appropriate, chiropractic treatment can be initiated and the patient started on the road to recovery. In addition to chiropractic treatment that might take place twice a week for several weeks, the patient will be instructed how to perform exercises to strengthen back muscles and the intrinsic core muscles of the body. This will ensure an upright posture and spinal stability. There is absolutely no need for a person to endure back pain for the rest of his life when gentle and effective chiropractic care is readily available.
