Exercises or other tricks to reduce lower back pain?

I've been struggling lately with lower back pain, whenever I stand up for any period of time (10 minutes plus), and especially when I walk. I think maybe I've strained the muscles in my lower back, however I cannot simply just stop doing my job which involves a lot of bending over (hold the puns please :P )... so how do I reduce lower back pain through treatment or exercise? :)
